Hi, I’m Kendra. As a mom of two, in a low screen time household, I read a LOT of children’s books. I’m passionate about the type of media I expose my children to and that includes the books we read. To me it is important not only to model kind behavior in person but also have that positive behavior modeled and reinforced in the media we consume. With a focus on kindness (that doesn’t also show rude or mean behavior), diversity, and heavily nature focused I started to gather a beautiful home library of books.
Over time I noticed how much I enjoyed the process of hunting down and sharing these book recommendations with others as well. In January 2021 I started “Little Thoughtful Readers” on instagram as a way to catalogue and share my favorite children’s books. The response has been wonderful and I am so grateful for the community this project has tapped me into.
This path has lead me in some beautiful directions. For me, motherhood completely broke me apart and gave me the opportunity to rebuild myself with a clearer eye. While this process has been painful and hard, it has also been exciting, immensely empowering and fulfilling. Slowly, this process has given me a new confidence in my own abilities. Writing is something I have always wanted to do but never felt talented enough to pursue. The release of my first book (Children’s Gratitude Journal) was a soft step into writing but a HUGE step in gaining the confidence I needed to move forward with a dream I have had my whole life. Thank you SO much for joining me in this journey!
